Sustainably effective for Madagascar WATCH OUR MOVIE Vision and Mission Resilient communities and vibrant forests for Madagascar. ADES improves living conditions whilst protecting Madagascar’s forests. We combine climate and environmental protection with local economic development and practical support to empower people to help themselves. As a Swiss NPO with a hybrid approach combining charitable work and local entrepreneurship, we create opportunities – particularly for women and people in remote regions. In doing so, we are guided by the Sustainable Development Goals and the principle of ‘Leave No One Behind’. Over 95% of our team comes from local communities in Madagascar. This results in solutions with genuine local roots. Three pillars for Madagascar Clean cooking, education, and reforestation. Together, they form a holistic approach to sustainable development in Madagascar. MISSION Pillar 1: Clean Cooking A Malagasy household consumes four to six tonnes of wood annually through cooking over an open fire. ADES solar and energy-saving cookstoves enable Madagascan families to significantly reduce their wood and charcoal consumption. Depending on the model, energy-saving cookstoves save 50 to 70 per cent of fuel. A nationwide network of over 200 independent resellers forms the backbone of the distribution system. Pillar 2: Education Education shapes the future: ADES brings environmental education to schools in Madagascar. Children learn how to protect the environment and climate in their everyday lives. Teachers are trained, schools are strengthened and sustainable solutions are embedded for the long term. Pillar 3: Reforestation Up to half a million hectares of forest are lost in Madagascar every year. Reducing fuel consumption through energy-efficient cookstoves is not enough to preserve Madagascar’s forests. That is why ADES is also committed to reforestation. Our education and awareness-raising initiatives have a long-term impact. • Project M233 | ADES

Project M233 Empowerment Promoting the independence of retailers ALL PROJECTS 01 Context More than 90 per cent of Madagascar’s population still cooks using wood or charcoal. This leads to massive deforestation, high CO₂ emissions and health problems caused by indoor smoke. The sale of ADES stoves not only provides resellers with an income, but also helps to protect the climate and public health. However, many resellers themselves live in precarious circumstances and require targeted support to run their businesses successfully. 02 Executive Summary Project M233 – Empowerment: Helping Resellers Become Self-Sufficient strengthens ADES’s nationwide distribution network in Madagascar and specifically promotes the economic self-sufficiency of resellers, particularly women. The income impact is complemented by measurably enhanced entrepreneurial, commercial and digital skills. Key levers for impact include a fair margin policy, structured training and further education, the gradual digitalisation of sales, and targeted measures to boost visibility and motivation within the reseller network. The project is being implemented across all 24 regions of Madagascar and combines economic empowerment with climate and health protection through the widespread distribution of clean cooking solutions. Impact is continuously recorded and actively managed via ADES’s monitoring system. 03 Outcomes The M233 project strengthens the economic independence of resellers across Madagascar – particularly women. Fair margins, training, and long-term support generate stable additional income and new economic prospects. Many resellers invest their earnings in small businesses, agriculture, education, or the expansion of their sales activities. This sustainably improves the financial resilience of entire households. At the same time, the project contributes to the nationwide dissemination of clean cooking solutions and combines local income generation with climate, health, and forest conservation. Timeline The project is proposed for the period January 2026 to December 2028 and forms part of a long-term commitment running until 2030. Support ADES Launch 2012 Pilot-Project Reseller network established; informal structures and limited support. Milestone 1 2021 Integration Empowerment becomes a strategic core programme for ADES Milestone 2 2026-2028 Consolidation Recruitment: 15–20 new resellers annually, with a focus on remote regions (≥ 60 per cent women) Scaling 2030 Outlook Target: 160,000 cookstoves per year, reaching communities across Madagascar Project M233 Voices from the Project “Since I started selling ADES products, my standard of living has improved significantly. I have grown in my role. I sell around 45 OLIs per month. Thanks to the extra income, after saving for a while I was able to buy a motorbike. ” Madame Laurena (Tsaramandroso, Boeny Region) ALL PROJECTS Any questions ? Project M232 Environmental education Levers for poverty reduction and climate adaptation in Madagascar ALL PROJECTS 01 Context Madagascar is not only severely affected by deforestation, poverty and the impacts of climate change – many children also lack access to practical environmental education and concrete opportunities for action. Project M232 addresses precisely this issue and combines education with practical application in everyday life. 02 Executive Summary Project M232 provides children and teachers in Madagascar with a deep understanding of social-ecological interdependencies and sustainable action. Around 30,000 children and 800 teachers are reached annually – through environmental lessons, practical school activities and targeted training. By establishing 10 “Écoles Vertes” (green schools) per year, ADES is embedding environmental education permanently into everyday school life. New digital learning formats, monitoring and evaluation systems, and a national database for measuring impact are improving the programme’s reach and quality. 03 Outcomes Children and teachers develop a sound environmental awareness and bring this into school, family life and society. In the long term, this leads to more conscious use of resources and greater resilience to climate risks. The project is part of a long-term commitment running until 2030. The aim is to establish a sustainable, state-funded system for environmental education. Key developments: Digitisation of learning content Expansion of monitoring and evaluation Establishment of a central impact database Greater involvement of government partners Timeline All activities are geared towards scalability and institutional integration. New components for 2025–2028 include digitization, data-based monitoring, and participatory content development. Support us Launch 2011 Pilot project Start of environmental education in public schools Milestone 1 2011-2018 Implementation Professionalization teaching modules: 6157 children, 413 teachers trained annually Milestone 2 2022-2025 Consolidation State recognition, launch of «Écoles Vertes». 30,000 children annually Scaling 2030 Outlook New annual targets: > 200 schools, > 50,000 children, 1,000 teachers and globally 100 autonomous «Écoles Vertes» Project M232 Voices from the project “I was surprised when my son Ricardo asked me to help him start a small vegetable garden. Today, we harvest directly from it. I think that’s wonderful, because that is the true purpose of education: preparing children for life .” François Betombo, father of Ricardo (Ambohitralalana Primary School) ALL PROJECTS Any questions ? • Project M300 | ADES

Project M300 Reforestation Strengthening the livelihoods of the local communities ALL PROJECTS 01 Context Madagascar is severely affected by climate change, with 80 per cent of the population living in poverty. A lack of infrastructure and low purchasing power lead to the over-exploitation of natural resources. The greatest threat to the environment and biodiversity lies in the disappearance of forests, caused by bushfires, charcoal production, and logging. Furthermore, large-scale destruction caused by grazing fires associated with livestock farming leads to significant problems. This environmental destruction threatens both the livelihoods of Madagascar’s growing population and the existence of globally unique ecosystems. 02 Executive Summary Through its reforestation project, ADES is tackling Madagascar’s key challenges – deforestation, poverty, unemployment and food insecurity. Since the project began in 2019, over 1,300,000 trees have been planted, covering more than 500 hectares of forest. The project promotes environmental sustainability, economic development, and education. It ensures improved food security, greater biodiversity, and better water retention, whilst preventing further soil erosion. The jobs created also provide a source of income for the local population. The reforestation project is carried out annually. 03 Outcomes Through the project, rural households and community groups develop a sound understanding of environmental issues and integrate this into their daily lives, where they pass it on to others. The aim is to contribute to long-term social change, in which the protection of natural resources, a mindful approach to the environment, and an understanding of ecological interdependencies become an integral part of people’s thinking and actions. In doing so, reforestation areas are to be secured on a permanent basis. Timeline The project is scheduled to run from August 2026 to July 2028 and forms part of a long-term commitment running until 2030. • Project M240 | ADES

Project M240 Modular institutional kitchens Improved conditions for children and cooks ALL PROJECTS 01 Context Many schools in Madagascar still cook over open fires, often in dark kitchens without windows or proper ventilation. Smoke exposure poses serious health risks for cooks, while excessive firewood consumption contributes to deforestation. At the same time, schools often lack the resources needed to invest in modern kitchen infrastructure. ADES addresses this challenge by building robust, modular school kitchens that require significantly less fuel, are easy to operate and maintain, and are developed in close collaboration with schools and local communities. 02 Executive Summary The M240 project improves cooking infrastructure in schools across Madagascar through the construction of 15 modular institutional kitchens each year. It enables more than 2,700 children to receive warm and nutritious meals in a hygienic, efficient and resource-saving environment. The kitchens reduce firewood consumption by up to 80%, save several hours of cooking time each day and protect the health of cooks by providing smoke-free working conditions. The project combines infrastructure, training and monitoring with strong local ownership and contributions. 03 Outcomes The M240 project sustainably improves school kitchen infrastructure across Madagascar. Schoolchildren benefit from daily warm and nutritious meals, while cooks work in significantly safer and healthier conditions, with less smoke exposure, reduced firewood consumption and lower physical strain. The modular institutional kitchens drastically reduce fuel consumption and energy costs. This creates additional financial resources that schools can invest in improved nutrition, school gardens or educational activities. At the same time, the project strengthens local ownership and long-term resilience. The kitchens are planned together with schools, produced locally and supported through training, maintenance and monitoring, ensuring sustainable use even in remote regions of Madagascar. Timeline The project runs from August 2025 to July 2028 and forms part of a longer-term commitment extending to 2030. Its objective is the nationwide expansion of modular institutional kitchens in schools through a locally rooted implementation approach. Support us Launch 2020 Pilot-Project First three school kitchens built in partnership with Bel Avenir First impact data collected Monitoring system established Milestone 1 2021-2025 Implementation 43 kitchens built Initial assessments conducted on smoke exposure, firewood consumption, costs and time savings Milestone 2 2026-2029 Consolidation 80 new kitchens by 2029 Technical specifications developed Standardisation of components Enhanced monitoring Scaling 2030 Outlook Nationally established model Collaboration with government stakeholders and potential scaling with international partners Local production and maintenance partners Project M240 Voices from the project « Thanks to our collaboration with ADES, we now have an institutional kitchen and have completed a five-day training course on its use. We have experienced many benefits, including environmental protection, significant savings in firewood consumption and shorter cooking times. The kitchen produces very little smoke, which protects both the health of the cooks and the environment. For me, this kitchen has brought nothing but improvements to our daily work, even though good organisation remains important for its effective use. » Herimiampita Fenohery, educator at the CERES boys’ boarding school in Andranomiadiloha (Fianarantsoa) ALL PROJECTS Any questions ? • We are ADES | ADES

A Swiss NPO established in Madagascar We are ADES OUR TEAM Vision ADES is committed to a Madagascar where people and nature can live together in resilient, regenerative systems. We believe that sustainable development can only succeed if ecological stability, economic prospects, and social participation are strengthened together. Therefore, we combine climate- and environmentally friendly energy solutions, education, local value creation, and reforestation into integrated approaches that have a long-term impact. Together with local communities, we create solutions that protect forests, improve livelihoods and enable a sustainable future for the next generations. Mission ADES aims to achieve this vision by improving the living conditions of the population alongside protecting forests. With our three-pillar approach, we provide as many people as possible with access to energy-efficient cooking, educate people, especially children, about environmental issues, and reforest or protect existing forests. In doing so, we focus on underrepresented groups in society and promote their participation in the economic value creation process. Impact ADES combines climate, environmental and development work to create integrated solutions with long-term impact for people, nature and the local economy in Madagascar. Our approach strengthens climate-resilient communities, reduces pressure on forests, creates economic opportunities and promotes sustainable development through locally rooted and measurable solutions. Corporate Film ADES 2025-2026 Statistics never tell the whole story. Madagascar's unique natural environment is seriously threatened. This film shifts the perspective: a voice from everyday life takes center stage.
