Project M570 ADES Village+ Climate-Resilient Villages for Madagascar ALL PROJECTS 01 Context Madagascar is heavily affected by deforestation, biodiversity loss and the impacts of climate change. Many families still cook with firewood or charcoal, while schools and communities often have only limited resources for sustainable development. With Village+, ADES brings together more than 25 years of experience in an integrated village development model. The project combines clean cooking energy, reforestation, environmental education, sustainable school kitchens and local entrepreneurship into a holistic approach for climate-resilient villages 02 Executive Summary Village+ creates climate-resilient villages by bringing together five proven ADES approaches into one integrated programme: clean cooking energy, reforestation and biodiversity, environmental education, sustainable school kitchens, and local entrepreneurship. Together with local communities, solutions are developed to protect natural resources, promote education and create new income opportunities. The implementation of the first pilot villages is planned from 2028 onwards. 03 Outcomes Clean Cooking Energy Access to improved cooking solutions Reduced firewood consumption and lower CO₂ emissions Reforestation and Biodiversity Restoration of degraded land Protection of natural resources and promotion of biodiversity Strengthened local stewardship of natural resources Environmental Education Strengthened environmental and climate protection skills among children, young people and teachers Increased environmental awareness within communities and long-term adoption of sustainable practices Sustainable School Kitchens Energy-efficient cooking solutions for schools Improved school meals with reduced firewood consumption Local Entrepreneurship New income opportunities through local distribution and service networks Strengthened economic resilience of local communities Timeline The project is planned for the period from January 2026 to December 2028 and forms part of a long-term commitment extending to 2030. Support us Launch 2026 Pilot Project Selection of villages, participatory planning process, assessment of current conditions, start of implementation Phase 1 2027 Implementation Full implementation of the modules, guidance, and support Phase 2 2028 Consolidation Evaluation, documentation, dissemination, and decision on expansion Scaling 2030 Outlook Reach over 50 new villages Projet M570 Insights from previous projects Village+ builds on the experience gained through ADES projects M100, M232, M233, M240 and M300. Key lessons incorporated into the concept include: Local governance instead of top-down approaches: Sustainable impact is achieved where communities are actively involved. Village+ therefore relies on local steering committees in each model village. Infrastructure requires support : Building kitchens or distributing cookstoves alone is not enough. Training, local role models and trained contact persons encourage effective use and behavioural change. Participation strengthens resilience : The best results were achieved when local actors were not only users, but also co-creators. Monitoring as a learning tool : Digital tools improve impact measurement and enable continuous adaptation. Strategic focus : Drawing on lessons learned between 2023 and 2025, ADES is placing greater emphasis on structurally disadvantaged rural regions. We are looking for committed partners to support the implementation of this project. Contact us to learn more about funding and partnership opportunities. ALL PROJECTS Any questions ? Project M100 Improved Cookstoves for a Sustainable Future in Madagascar Our innovative cooking solutions are specifically adapted to the local context. ALL PROJECTS 01 Context Madagascar is one of the countries with the highest deforestation rates in the world. A major reason for this is the widespread use of firewood and charcoal for cooking. Millions of households still cook over open fires or on inefficient stoves. This practice puts a strain on the forests, causes harmful smoke pollution in homes, and results in high fuel costs for families. The M100 – Energy-saving Stove project aims to make energy-efficient cooking solutions accessible nationwide, thereby improving the environment, health and living conditions of the population. 02 Executive Summary The M100 project contributes to the implementation of Madagascar’s national energy and climate strategy. In the ‘Pacte énergétique national’ (January 2025), the government has set itself the target of providing around 80% of the population with electricity and at least 50% of households with clean cooking technologies by 2030. Through the annual production and distribution of over 100,000 energy-efficient cooking solutions, ADES is making a concrete contribution to achieving this goal. Particular emphasis is placed on previously underserved regions and remote areas where access to modern energy solutions is particularly limited. The project activities thus support both Madagascar’s national energy policy and international sustainability goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). 03 Outcomes The M100 project improves access to clean and resource-efficient cooking throughout Madagascar. Households significantly reduce their fuel consumption, save time and money, and are exposed to less harmful smoke. Low-income families in particular benefit from lower expenditure on charcoal and firewood. The financial savings and time gained create scope for nutrition, education, and small-scale economic activities. At the same time, ADES strengthens local markets and income opportunities through production, distribution, and a nationwide network of resellers. Women in particular benefit from new economic prospects along the value chain. Through awareness-raising, market development, and long-term partnerships, the project helps to permanently embed clean cooking solutions in society and the economy. Timeline The project is scheduled to run from January 2026 to December 2029 and forms part of a long-term commitment extending to 2030. Suport us Launch 2001-2008 Pilot-Project Pilot project Start of production in Fianarantsoa. • Project M233 | ADES

Project M233 Empowerment Promoting the independence of retailers ALL PROJECTS 01 Context More than 90 per cent of Madagascar’s population still cooks using wood or charcoal. This leads to massive deforestation, high CO₂ emissions and health problems caused by indoor smoke. The sale of ADES stoves not only provides resellers with an income, but also helps to protect the climate and public health. However, many resellers themselves live in precarious circumstances and require targeted support to run their businesses successfully. 02 Executive Summary Project M233 – Empowerment: Helping Resellers Become Self-Sufficient strengthens ADES’s nationwide distribution network in Madagascar and specifically promotes the economic self-sufficiency of resellers, particularly women. The income impact is complemented by measurably enhanced entrepreneurial, commercial and digital skills. Key levers for impact include a fair margin policy, structured training and further education, the gradual digitalisation of sales, and targeted measures to boost visibility and motivation within the reseller network. The project is being implemented across all 24 regions of Madagascar and combines economic empowerment with climate and health protection through the widespread distribution of clean cooking solutions. Impact is continuously recorded and actively managed via ADES’s monitoring system. 03 Outcomes The M233 project strengthens the economic independence of resellers across Madagascar – particularly women. Fair margins, training, and long-term support generate stable additional income and new economic prospects. Many resellers invest their earnings in small businesses, agriculture, education, or the expansion of their sales activities. This sustainably improves the financial resilience of entire households. At the same time, the project contributes to the nationwide dissemination of clean cooking solutions and combines local income generation with climate, health, and forest conservation. Timeline The project is proposed for the period January 2026 to December 2028 and forms part of a long-term commitment running until 2030. Support ADES Launch 2012 Pilot-Project Reseller network established; informal structures and limited support. Milestone 1 2021 Integration Empowerment becomes a strategic core programme for ADES Milestone 2 2026-2028 Consolidation Recruitment: 15–20 new resellers annually, with a focus on remote regions (≥ 60 per cent women) Scaling 2030 Outlook Target: 160,000 cookstoves per year, reaching communities across Madagascar Project M233 Voices from the Project “Since I started selling ADES products, my standard of living has improved significantly. I have grown in my role. I sell around 45 OLIs per month. Thanks to the extra income, after saving for a while I was able to buy a motorbike. ” Madame Laurena (Tsaramandroso, Boeny Region) ALL PROJECTS Any questions ?
