Josh Martin, USA
His interest in Madagascar began many years ago when he read about the ‘Green Island’ in a nature magazine. When planning his trip to Madagascar in 2018, he sought out a non-profit organisation actively campaigning against deforestation in the country. He subsequently visited ADES in Toliara.
“Once I was back in the USA, I couldn’t get that experience out of my head. The stories I’d heard and what I’d seen with my own eyes moved me deeply. It was clear to me that I couldn’t simply return without doing something. I’m convinced that ADES is part of the solution that will one day restore Madagascar’s title as the ‘Green Island’.”
Josh offered to help ADES expand its fundraising efforts in the US to accelerate the protection and restoration of Madagascar’s forests. It was a stroke of luck that ADES was able to inspire such a committed individual with its projects.
